Russell T Davies says TV boss dismissed It’s A Sin as ‘depressing Aids drama’



It’s A Sin creator Russell T Davies has revealed a TV govt dismissed the hard-hitting sequence as “that depressing Aids drama”.

he Channel 4 present received the brand new drama prize on the Nationwide Tv Awards (NTAs) and has been lauded by critics and audiences.
It stars Olly Alexander and follows a bunch of younger homosexual males who transfer to London within the Eighties originally of the HIV/Aids disaster.

It’s A Sin was turned down by the BBC and ITV earlier than it was picked up by Channel 4 and Davies mentioned it was his robust perception within the present that stopped him giving up.

On stage through the ceremony, Davies devoted the award to “these we misplaced, those that lived, those that discovered and people we beloved” through the Aids disaster.

He mentioned: “It’s a drama about Aids on a minority channel about what some folks would name a minority topic.

“To win on an enormous evening like tonight with all the large stars out there’s astonishing.”

Years & Years singer Alexander, 31, performed Ritchie Tozer and has received widespread approval for the function.
He mentioned he was delighted the sequence had added to the dialog round HIV/Aids.
Alexander mentioned: “I really feel so fortunate to work with Russell, with the staff, with the forged.”
He added: “I’m simply very pleased.”
